Free WHT Calculator — The Plain-English Guide

Short answer: pick the section, type the gross, read the WHT. The free calculator on our homepage does the math for 153, 155, 233, and 236 in both filer and non-filer flavours — no login needed.
Why a calculator beats a spreadsheet
The rates change. Every Finance Bill, the table shifts. A spreadsheet you built in 2022 will quietly book the wrong number until your auditor catches it. The calculator on this site reads the live rate table, so the answer is always today's rate, not last year's.

Step-by-step
- Open the calculator. Go to the homepage and scroll to the WHT widget — or hit Ctrl+K and type 'wht'.
- Pick the section. Choose 153, 155, 233, or 236 from the dropdown.
- Enter the gross amount. Type the bill total before tax.
- Pick filer status. Filer rates are lower. Non-filer rates apply if the vendor isn't on the active taxpayer list.
- Read the result. You see WHT amount, net payable to vendor, and the section reference — ready to paste into a payment voucher.
Common gotchas
- Check filer status first. The non-filer rate is often double. Five seconds of checking saves a refund letter.
- Use the right section. Services (153) and rent (155) get mixed up. They're different rates and different challan codes.
- Round at the challan, not the invoice. Round each line and you'll be a few rupees off by month-end.
From calculator to challan
Logged-in users can take the same number, post the WHT entry against a vendor bill, and download the FBR-ready challan PDF — all from the same screen. Try the full flow on the features page, or read the FBR invoicing guide for the matching sales-tax side of the story.
